Beatrice explained that Alistair's
family had arranged for Eliza to be
sent to a remote convent, where'
she gave birth to her child in secret.
After the baby was born, Alistair's
family took it away from Eliza and
placed it in a foster home.
Eliza was devastated by the loss of
her child. She spent the rest of her
life searching for her, but she never
found her. She died alone and
heartbroken, her dreams shattered
by the cruelty of society.
Beatrice revealed that she had
been sworn to secrecy by Alistair's
family. She had carried the burden

guilty for her role in Eliza's suffering.
"I should have spoken up," Beatrice
said, her eyes filled with tears. "I
should have told the truth. But I
was afraid of what Alistair's family

powerful people, and they wouldn't

She explained that she had decided
to tell Ellie and Liam the truth
because she couldn't bear to carry

some peace.
