**Episode 16: Societal Pressure**
Fueled by Beatrice's revelations,
Ellie and Liam returned to the
lavender letters with a renewed
sense of purpose. They meticulously
re-examined each letter, searching
for any clues that might shed light
on Eliza's state of mind and the
pressures she faced.
The letters became more poignant,
more heartbreaking, knowing the
tragic fate that awaited Eliza.
Passages that once seemed like
simple expressions of longing now
revealed a desperate plea for
escape, a yearning for a life free
from the constraints of society.
One letter, written shortly before
Eliza's disappearance, read:
*“My Dearest A,*
*The walls are closing in. Your
family watches my every move.
They disapprove, they judge, they
whisper. I feel like a caged bird,
desperate to fly away. I fear for
our future, for the life we dreamed
of. I don't know how much longer I
can endure this.*
*Tell me, A, is our love worth
fighting for? Is it worth sacrificing
everything? I need your strength,
your guidance. I need to know that
we are not alone in this battle.*
*Yours eternally,*
*E.”*
Ellie felt a surge of anger towards
Alistair. How could he have
abandoned Eliza when she needed
him most? How could he have
allowed his family to dictate their
lives, to tear them apart?
Liam, sensing her distress, gently
took her hand. "It wasn't easy for
him either, Ellie," he said. "He was
trapped by his own circumstances.
He had a duty to his family, to his
business, to his social standing. He
was a prisoner of his own privilege."
"But he had a choice," Ellie argued.
"He could have chosen Eliza. He
could have defied his family. He
could have fought for their love."
"Perhaps," Liam said. "But he didn't.
And that's the tragedy of it all."
That night, after another late-night
session at Rose's Reads, Liam
walked Ellie home. The air was
crisp and cool, filled with the scent
of autumn leaves. They walked in
comfortable silence, their hands
brushing occasionally.
As they reached Ellie's doorstep,
Liam stopped and turned to face
her. He looked into her eyes, his
gaze full of tenderness.
"Ellie," he said, his voice soft. "Thank
you for sharing this with me. Thank
you for trusting me."
He reached out and gently cupped
her face in his hands. Ellie leaned
into his touch, feeling a warmth
spread through her body.
Their lips met in a tentative kiss, a
soft exploration of each other's
mouths. The kiss deepened,
becoming more passionate, more
urgent. Ellie wrapped her arms
around Liam's neck, pulling him
closer.
The kiss lasted for what seemed
like an eternity. When they finally
broke apart, they were both
breathless and flushed.
"Wow," Ellie said, her voice shaky.
"Yeah," Liam replied, his smile
mischievous. "Wow." Don't forget to leave a Comment
