As Uche was led away, he was crying. He thought of
his village, his mother, and Lucky his dog.
"I must find a way to prove that I'm innocent," he said
to himself. He was locked up in the guard room
pending his death day.
Outside the guardroom, Lucky the dog sat quietly with
his ears raised up. He seemed to understand that Uche
needed help and was in danger. Day turned into night.
Uche sat in his cell, filled with sadness and fear, while
Lucky waited outside, loyal as always. The dog refused
to go.
The stars shone like diamond dust in the sky. Uche
thought about the princess, about how she looked so
scared. He knew he was not a bad man. He only
