**Episode 4: The Weight of
Expectation**
At the age of twelve, Amanda's life
took a turn. Eleanor, tiring of the
pretense of motherhood, began to
assign her household chores. What
started as small tasks – setting the
table, dusting shelves – soon
escalated into a full-time job.
Amanda was expected to keep her
room spotless, do her own laundry,
and even help Mrs. Gable with the
cooking and cleaning. She juggled
her schoolwork with her domestic
duties, growing increasingly
exhausted and resentful.
While Eleanor attended lavish
parties and exotic vacations,
Amanda scrubbed floors and
polished silverware. She watched
from the window as Eleanor's car
pulled away, the taillights
disappearing into the night, leaving
her alone in the silent, echoing
mansion.
One afternoon, while cleaning
Eleanor's closet, Amanda found a
stack of old newspaper clippings.
They were all about her –
"Abandoned Baby Rescued by
Millionaire Heiress," "Eleanor Vance
Opens Her Heart to Orphaned
Child."
Amanda realized then that her
rescue had been a publicity stunt, a
way for Eleanor to burnish her
image as a benevolent
philanthropist. She was not loved;
she was a trophy, a prop in
Eleanor's carefully constructed
narrative. Don't forget to leave a Comment
