**Episode 6: Runaway**
Amanda ran until her lungs burned
and her legs ached. The manicured
lawns of Vance Manor gave way to
the tangled undergrowth of the
coastal forest. She didn't know
where' she was going, only that she
had to get away.
She stumbled upon a deserted
stretch of beach, the waves
crashing against the shore like a
relentless heartbeat. Exhausted and
heartbroken, she collapsed onto the
sand, the cold seeping into her
bones. She spent the night huddled
beneath a rocky overhang,
shivering and listening to the
mournful cries of the seagulls.
The next morning, hungry and
disoriented, Amanda made her way
to a small coastal town a few miles
down the road. She had no money,
no identification, and no plan. She
was a runaway, adrift in a world
that seemed both frightening and
exhilarating.
She found work washing dishes at
a small diner, owned by a kind,
older woman named Maria. Maria,
with her warm smile and calloused
hands, reminded Amanda of Mrs.
Gable. She offered Amanda a small
room above the diner in exchange
for her work.
For the first time in her life,
Amanda felt a glimmer of hope.
She was earning her own living,
making her own choices, and
escaping the suffocating control of
Eleanor Vance. Don't forget to leave a Comment
