Regret**
News of Amanda's disappearance
reached the Hawthorne mansion
like a thunderclap. Mrs. Eleanor,
initially dismissive, became
increasingly frantic as the days
passed without any sign of her.
She hired private investigators,
plastered the city with missing
person posters, and even made a
tearful appeal on television. But all
her efforts were in vain. Amanda
had vanished without a trace.
Richard, consumed by guilt and
fear, withdrew into himself. He
knew that his actions had driven
Amanda away, and he feared that
the truth would eventually come
out.
Albert, burdened by his secret
knowledge of Amanda's escape,
felt a growing sense of
responsibility. He knew that he
should have done more to protect
her, that he should have stood up
to his mother and brother.
