Jim entered Cynthia's room, feeling
a little awkward. "I'm sorry to
intrude," he said. "I just... I wanted
to ask you some questions."
Cynthia sighed and gestured for
him to sit down. "Ask away," she
said.
"That necklace," Jim began. "The
one you wear. It's the same as
Lady Helen Windthorpe's. Do you
know her?"
Cynthia hesitated. "I know of her,"
she said. "We have... mutual
interests."
"What kind of interests?" Jim
pressed.
"Spiritual ones," Cynthia replied.
"Lady Helen and I both follow a
certain path, a path that values
strength, independence, and...
justice."
"And Cole?" Jim asked. "What does
he have to do with this?"
Cynthia's face darkened. "Cole is a
corrupt man," she said. "He abuses
his power, preys on the weak. He
needs to be stopped."
"But why would Lady Helen have a
dossier on him?" Jim asked. "What's
her stake in all this?"
Cynthia remained silent. The
answer was there but she was
