Episode 17: Words and Wounds
(Shary POV)
The silence was deafening. Moana
stood with her back to me, unmoving,
and I felt a wave of despair wash over
me. How could I even begin to explain?
"Moana, I... I messed up," I stammered,
the words feeling inadequate and
hollow. "Layla... she offered me power,
a chance to break free from the
expectations of Chatlanka. I was
tempted, I won't lie. But I realized...
what I truly wanted was right here,
with you."
I paused, searching for the right words
to convey the depth of my regret. "I
know I hurt you, and I'm so sorry. I
never meant to. You're the most
important person in my life, Moana.
Please, give me a chance to earn back
your trust."
(Moana POV)
His words hung in the air, a mix of
sincerity and desperation. I wanted to
believe him, I truly did. But the doubt
was a persistent poison, whispering in
my ear that he could easily be swayed
again, that Layla's allure was too
strong to resist.
I finally turned to face him, my eyes
filled with a mixture of hurt and anger.
"How can I trust you, Shary? You were
drawn to her power, to her vision.
What's to stop you from going back?"
I crossed my arms, trying to appear
strong, but my voice wavered. "I need
to know that you're truly committed to
me, to us. I need to know that you'll
never betray me like that again."
(Shary POV)
Her question was a blade to the heart.
How could I prove my commitment?
Words were cheap, actions were what
mattered.
"I understand your doubt, Moana," I
said, meeting her gaze. "I can't erase
what happened, but I can show you
that I'm truly sorry. I'll do whatever it
takes to earn back your trust. I'll cut off
all contact with Layla. I'll dedicate
myself to rebuilding what we've lost.
Just tell me what you need from me."
I stepped closer, reaching out to touch
her hand, but hesitated, afraid of
rejection. "Please, Moana. Don't give up
on us."
